Samsung Galaxy S2 review: Interface

Samsung has realised the importance of keeping its phones up to date, and that promise is upheld on the Galaxy S2, running Android 2.3.3 from the outset. It's also packing TouchWiz 4.0, the latest version from the Korean firm, and it's a real upgrade.
Before we dive into the new features, we'll deal with the most important point: how it feels under the finger. And we're pleased to say it's the best out there in our opinion. Using dual 1.2GHz Samsung Orion CPUs means the Galaxy S2 can keep up with whatever you throw at it without a hint of slowdown.
Be it pinching the screen to call up the exploded view of all your home screens, pulling up an application or simply scrolling through reams of photos, the Galaxy S2 is capable of matching it all. We're not usually blown away by a phone's response, but we literally couldn't beat the S2, even after we opened all the applications on the menu.

The large screen may make reaching all areas of the display slightly tricky in one hand, especially for those with small palms, but that's a rarity, and a secondary hand can easily be called in.
The TouchWiz interface is overhauled again, and to good effect in our eyes. The Samsung Galaxy S2 has a WVGA screen, which is actually a little lower-res than its competitors these days, but it can still pack a load of widgets all over the place.
The same Android system is in place on the S2, but there are loads more widgets on offer to chuck around the home screen, and like the Motorola Defy, these are all easy to resize by dragging the corner to increase the functionality.

We're fans of the way Samsung has split the screen for customising the home screens, allowing users to sweep across the options at the bottom while seeing what space is left on the display, and easy resizing makes the interface as clean as you want it to be.

We like being able to organise our apps, but we're sure there's an easier way. If only we could just, we don't know, drag them onto one another and have the folders auto-create? What do you mean we can't? What's a patent?
One new novelty idea, the two finger accelerometer zooming, was pretty cool but a little pointless. The idea is you hold two fingers on the screen for an internet page or photo (basically anywhere you might pinch to zoom) and tilt the phone backwards and forwards to zoom in and out.
It's cool and fun to show your friends, but ultimately a little pointless when pinching to zoom works so much better.
The interface on the Samsung Galaxy S2 might seem a little complex to an iPhone user, as it's chock-full of contextual menus, pinches, zooms, scrolls and dragging. But spend just a few minutes familiarising yourself and you'll find a phone that refuses to give in under the finger, and is full to bursting with functionality.

Samsung Galaxy S2 Vs BlackBerry Bold 9900 Review

The BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 is the most advanced BlackBerry handset to be announced. But how does the handset stack up against the current Android king? The Samsung Galaxy S 2 has pushed the boundaries of mobile technology and you have to wonder if BlackBerry will be able to compete? We take a closer look at both handsets to see how they compare, my moneys on the Galaxy S 2 though!
Size & Design
The Galaxy Samsung S2 is a slim and lightweight phone when compared to its predecessor. It comes in a relatively small package measuring just 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.5 mm and weighing 116 grams. On the other hand though, the BlackBerry Bold 9900 is much thicker sitting at 115 x 66 x 10.5 mm which also means it weighs more - 132 grams.
The BlackBerry Bold Touch has kept with traditional BlackBerry handset styling which is rather unattractive when compared with the design of the Galaxy S2 and other modern smartphones. The general design and corners of the 9900 makes the phone look and feel a bit cheap. The Galaxy S2 has a well designed and compact shape giving it a much more attractive design.
Samsung S2 Vs BlackBerry Bold 9900
The Samsung Galaxy S2 features a capacitive super AMOLED touch screen which is bright and vivid. The screen can display up to a 480 x 800 pixels. The screen is also quite large; measuring 4.3 inches across and also comes with an accelerometer, multi-touch input, TouchWiz UI 4.0 and gyro sensors. The whole screen is covered with Gorilla glass coating which is a toughened material designed to enhance the protection of the screen and prevent damage from daily knocks and bumps.
The BlackBerry Bold 9900 on the other hand is much more fragile with its small screen size in comparison measuring just 2.3 inches. It makes use of a capacitive touch screen technology called 'graphical liquid' which provides a 640 x 480 pixel resolution. Other features include the optical track pad, full hardware keyboard and an accelerometer.
The sheer size and quality of the Galaxy S 2 display puts any mobile phone to shame, but when compared against the display on the BlackBerry Bold Touch you have to wonder what BlackBerry were thinking!
Storage Features
The Samsung Galaxy S2 includes 16GB of memory which is more than enough for all of your pictures, music and movies. However if 16GB isn't enough you can expand on this with up to an additional 32GB via a MicroSD memory card.
The BlackBerry Bold 9900 only provides 8 GB of internal memory. However it can also support a MicroSD card of up to 32 GB. Although the Galaxy S 2 has more storage, I personally do not see why you would need more than 8GB on your phone.
Technically the Samsung Galaxy S 2 is the better phone, but if your like me and struggle to write messages using a touchscreen keyboard then handsets like the BlackBerry with a full QWERTY keyboard are ideal.

Galaxy S2 phones officially announced on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint !!!!!

Are you tired of hearing rumors about Samsung’s Galaxy S2 phones? We are too, which is why we are happy to say that it has been officially announced for Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile. This all but confirms that Verizon will not be getting a Galaxy S2 device, or at least one named as such. Unlike the Galaxy S launch each carrier isn’t getting their own customized device and name. Sprint will keep the Epic name tag it originally placed on the first-generation Galaxy S phone, but will add Touch to the name due to it not having a physical keyboard. Both AT&T and T-Mobile devices will simply be called Galaxy S2.
Unlike the original Galaxy S launch the three devices don’t share the same screen size. The AT&T model will sport a 4.3-inch screen which is a boost from last year’s 4inch screen. The Sprint and T-Mobile phones will both have slightly larger screens at 4.52-inches. We are assuming that AT&T choose to keep the size of the European Galaxy S2 since they already have a 4.5inch Samsung phone, and it might be a little confusing for customers.
Internally all the phones will be the same except for the 4G antenna installed in each device. Sprint’s phone will of course come with WiMax installed, whereas T-Mobile and AT&T will have HSPA+ under the covers. All three phones will come with 1.2gigahertz dual core processors made by Samsung, and 16gigabytes of storage installed with an SD card slot if you need more room.
The Epic 4G Touch will be the first phone available when it comes out on September 16, but AT&T won’t be far behind with its release on September 18. There was no official word as to when exactly T-Mobile’s version will hit store shelves.
While we are excited to see these amazing phones finally become available we can’t help but wonder what took so long? There are no huge physical changes inside or out between these phones and the phone that was first released in Europe on May 1, four months before the America.

The Samsung Galaxy Tablet is loaded with features and is a great alternative for those considering the iPad. I have been using Samsung products for the last three years and I have always been satisfied with their quality and ability to pack features into their products. They have made the best smartphones hands down for a long time now. Other Samsung Galaxy reviews may tend to focus solely on the product features which are awesome but aside from that most of the time Samsung is able to offer the best and largest number of great features.
The Samsung Galaxy is powered by the mighty Android 2.2 operating system. Integrated with Google technology and pre-configured for T-mobile's prepaid data plan, you can enjoy 3g speeds over the t-mobile network. I see this as a good advantage because with many other tablets you would need an actual monthly plan through a service. This gives you the freedom to be less tied down by a monthly bill.
Other Samsung Galaxy reviews have really failed at pointing out the wireless capabilities that are included with the tablet. If you haven't ever used wireless n you're missing out as its lightning fast and almost feels like you are connected via ethernet. also included on the device is the option for up to 32g micro sd card. Also not included in other Samsung Galaxy reviews is any emphasis on flash capability which the iPad lacks. Flash is everywhere all over the internet and in games pictures and movies. It makes sense to have a device which is compatible with flash.
I am also very impressed with the 7 inch multi touch screen which makes viewing pictures and movies great but at the same time gives you more portability, and if you want to see a larger image you can always connect the video output hdmi through the dock. You can integrate your outlook email easily and move almost seamlessly through applications with speed and precision.
My Samsung Galaxy reviews should give you at least some idea as to what features are key to the product and also should present the tablet as a clear alternative to the iPad. I don't care much for apple products because they don't play well with others.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab has the Google Android 2.2 operating system which has tons of free apps and stuff to download with out messing with iTunes or having to pull out your credit card every time you want to try something new. Overall I would say that its a good product that has the potential for many different kinds of users. Its one of the smaller tablets and is reasonably priced for everything you get.
Samsung makes great products and has continued to stay at the top of their game while providing great solutions to today's technology needs.
